Hello, I’m Joseph Zammit, a crypto marketing expert, Web3 fractional CMO, and fintech marketing leader with over 25 years of experience driving strategic growth in traditional finance, blockchain, and digital assets.


Throughout my journey, I’ve helped both established institutions and cutting-edge startups thrive by building brands, launching products, and leading growth campaigns that combine data, creativity, and regulation-savvy execution.


My marketing roots run deep in traditional finance, where I led high-budget campaigns under strict compliance. But it was my passion for innovation that drew me to crypto. Early on, I recognised the transformative potential of blockchain and decentralised finance, and made it my mission to bring professional marketing leadership into the emerging Web3 economy.

From Traditional Finance Marketer to Web3 Marketing Leader

For the first 14 years of my career, I honed my skills in the banking sector, leading large-scale marketing campaigns and building powerful brand identities for major financial institutions. I mastered strategic planning, branding, and multi-channel outreach in a highly regulated environment, delivering consistent results under pressure. One highlight of this period was spearheading the launch of Mediterranean Bank, where I crafted a comprehensive communication strategy that established the bank as a key player in Malta’s financial services sector.

During this time, I was also entrusted to serve as a strategic communications advisor to Malta’s Minister of Finance and Prime Minister from 2006 to 2012. In this role, I led high-profile national initiatives that taught me the importance of clarity, credibility, and public engagement in messaging. Notably, I oversaw:


  • Modernising national budget communications: Overhauled the annual Budget communication process by introducing a pre-Budget public consultation and a 360-degree communications strategy to engage citizens and stakeholders.
     
  • Public health awareness campaigns: Directed the nationwide H1N1 influenza vaccination awareness campaign, ensuring critical health information reached the public effectively.
     
  • Vision 2015 project: Led communications for Vision 2015, a strategic plan aimed at positioning Malta as a global leader in ICT and financial services.
     

These early experiences in traditional finance gave me a strong foundation in disciplined marketing and taught me how to communicate trust and value—skills that would prove invaluable as I moved into the crypto and Web3 arena.

Pioneering Blockchain and Crypto Legislation

By the mid-2010s, I found myself at the forefront of Malta’s national move into blockchain. This marked a pivotal point in my journey as a crypto marketing expert and laid the groundwork for my evolution into a Web3 fractional CMO with a deep understanding of regulatory impact.


Transitioning fully into the fintech and crypto space, I played a strategic role in promoting and shaping Malta’s pioneering Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) regulatory framework. In 2018, Malta became the first country in the world to implement a full legal architecture for blockchain, cryptocurrency, and digital assets, comprising the Malta Digital Innovation Authority Act, the Innovative Technology Arrangements and Services Act, and the Virtual Financial Assets Act. This framework established Malta as a global crypto hub, attracting top-tier blockchain enterprises seeking legal clarity and compliance.


During this critical chapter, I led communications and strategic positioning for a law firm that was instrumental in drafting and promoting these groundbreaking policies. Our collective efforts were recognised when the firm earned the title Blockchain Law Firm of the Year at the Malta Blockchain Summit.


It was an incredibly rewarding period, seeing Malta earn the title “Blockchain Island” and knowing I contributed meaningfully to its foundation. This experience gave me a rare perspective on how regulation, innovation, and messaging intersect, deepening my capacity as both a fintech marketing leader and a strategist embedded in the DNA of the blockchain industry.

Fintech CMO and Crypto Marketing Consultant: Driving Growth in Digital Finance

 Over the past several years, I’ve specialised in leading crypto and Web3 marketing initiatives, helping businesses build strong brands and vibrant communities in these fast-paced, high-stakes industries. Operating as both a Web3 fractional CMO and a fintech marketing leader, I bring strategic oversight and hands-on execution to projects that demand agility, precision, and market relevance.


As Head of Crypto Marketing at Calamatta Cuschieri Finance Group, I led the go-to-market strategy for Moneybase, Malta’s first home-grown neobank. My role was to design and implement integrated campaigns that blended traditional finance with digital asset offerings, bridging both worlds to drive brand visibility and user adoption. This launch was more than a milestone—it was a signal that crypto could coexist with mainstream finance when backed by the right strategy and leadership.

  • Token Sales and ICOs: Successfully led token sale campaigns and Initial Coin Offerings, raising significant capital and expanding investor networks for early-stage projects.

  • Content & Growth Strategy: Built blockchain-focused content engines through blogs, thought leadership, and social media, delivering measurable growth in traffic, community size, and search visibility.
  • Product Launch Marketing: At Lama Technology Group, I led the market entry for the Lama App, a crypto-fintech hybrid platform. Using targeted digital campaigns, influencer partnerships, and community-first initiatives, I positioned Lama as a trusted player in both sectors.
